Young Adulthood: What NOT To Do | 1 Kings 3:1-14

I asked my daughter the other day how many kids are wearing a cast in her school. She said, “zero”. I was flabbergasted. I remember my own childhood, where I had a broken arm, twice, and a messed up nose, all before age 8. In fact my whole classroom looked more like a hospital ward. That kids got an eye patch, crutches in the aisle. Things have changed. But young people still have to grow up, eventually, into the harsh world we all share.
Because many of us have grown up in protected, controlled environments young adulthood can feel a bit like a mine field. That’s why Solomon’s story is perfect for us. His dad, the great King David, grew up in the fields, a shepherd, than a soldier. But Solomon grew up in the palace. His greatest hardship was when they served him food he didn’t like. And now this boy, is king! So today we look at his first years of young adulthood as he figures out how to be a King and how to be an adult.
So this is Young Adulthood: What NOT To Do.
