Inner City Mission Trip

Help your church make a difference in the drug epidemic wreaking havoc across our region, by helping us support our sister church Calvary Chapel of Kensington as they build a ministry base amidst the poverty, hunger, and devastating impact of widespread drug abuse. Join us for an overnight mission trip where we’ll work alongside God’s family to demolish and clean out two buildings. These spaces will be repurposed to create jobs and provide affordable housing for the community, specifically benefiting the brothers and sisters of Calvary Chapel of Kensington's Rock Ministries.

*More details to come as the date draws closer.   This information is to help you begin planning and preparing for the fall trip.

What To Expect Each Day

Friday we’ll depart from GraceBuilt promptly at 5 pm. The journey is a 5+ hour drive, providing an excellent opportunity for us to connect and get to know one another.  Upon arrival in Kensington, we’ll gather for prayer before resting for the night.  Calvary Chapel Kensington will provide cots/air mattresses and house us in separate Sunday school rooms for boys and girls. Showers are downstairs.
Saturday will be a workday.  We'll start with a 7am breakfast, then tour the facilities and pray together.  We will then do demolition and cleaning.  Unskilled and skilled workers are needed.  We break for lunch, then get back to working together till about 4 PM. At 4 PM we clean up, reserving time to pray over one another so we can get on the road by 5 PM, arriving back at GraceBuilt roughly around 10 PM.

Demolition tasks include:

  • removing utilities,
  • removing plumbing,
  • removing electric components, and
  • removing an old boiler system.
  • Additionally, we’ll take down all wall finishes, including drywall and plaster.
